Just as you enter Captiva Island from Sanibel Island there is a public beach with a jetty of rocks separating the inlet between the two islands. This is a perfect place to watch the sun set and capture some nice photographs. On this image I used multiple exposures to catch the movement of the water and the setting sun..
Paradise Cove, Malibu California
Paradise Cove is a beautiful stretch of beach in Malibu California. While waiting for a table at the Paradise Cove restaurant, I was able to capture this moment shortly after sunset. The pier and the feeding birds added a little drama to an already beautiful scene.
I captured this image with my Canon 5D Mark II and a 17-40mm “L” Series Canon Lens.
When my oldest son decided to attend college in California, I must admit it wasn’t upsetting to me at all! Despite the distance, it would give me the opportunity to visit one of my favorite places to photograph. On a recent trip to “visit my son”, I discovered the Manhattan Beach Pier. An often photographed spot, the pier offers many creative options to a photographer. On this particular image I was lucky to capture a beautiful sunset which served as a perfect backdrop to the dramatic pier.
I positioned myself under the pier in the surf with my tripod and took a series of bracketed images. Processed in Photomatix 4 and OnOne software, I was able to create a multi-exposure photograph that shows the detail of the underside of the pier while maintaining the striking sunset colors in the sky
This photo was taken on Longboat Key on the west coast of Florida. Some of my favorite sunsets have come from this area. Every night you get the opportunity to witness another beautiful end of the day. The name of this photo comes from the small beach bag left on the side of the dune. It was not until after I processed the photo that I discovered it. I decided to leave it in the image.
This photo was taken with my Canon 5D Mark II on a Manfrotto tripod. Three shot exposure (-2,0,+2) processed in Photomatix 4 and later developed in Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS-5. Detail and color adjustments made in OnOne 7 software.

One of the best things about living in the Tri-State area is the proximity to New York City. I was born and rised in New York and could never see myself living too far away from it. As a photographer, New York City offers endless photographic opportunities. This particular image was taken from the Top of the Rock in midtown Manhattan shortly after sunset. This popular tourist attraction gets pretty crowded so you have to arrive early and wait for the best vantage point to open up. And, once you secure your spot be prepared to wait for the lights to come on!
This photograph was taken with a tripod. Once again I had to use my small Gorilla tripod since security will not allow large tripods. I used a 17-40mm Canon lens. Processed in Lightroom and Photoshop CS-5.

The Monterey Peninsula area of California is a photographers paradise. All along the famous 17 Mile Drive are photographic opportunities . This image was captured at sunset while I was frantically taking photos all along 17 Mile Drive since everywhere I looked was another beautiful scene! The fantastic cloud formation that evening made my most difficult decision what to put in the foreground. This is an HDR images taken from a single Raw photo with my Canon 5D Mark II. Processed in Photomatix 4 and Lightroom and Photoshop CS-5.
